There are days like this. Days that inspire, despite all that is going around the world, we hear about something that drips just a tiny drop of hope in humankind. today in SA a Drug Watch campaign was launched. A partnership between the police, communities and our no. 1 talk radio station. It is 9am and 11 arrests and confiscations have already been accomplished in one suburb of JHB alone. This is the type of stuff that puts tears in my eyes and make my hairs stand.
But today it matters not that we live in a putrid world. It matters not that all we do in life is feed this engine of soulless power seeking. It matters not that it would take just one true leader to kick start a change towards a better co-existence.
Some weeks back, on the 22nd May, the President of Malawi, Joyce Banda, sold the Presidential Luxury Jet for $15 million to inject cash into the economy, she’s also taken a 30% salary cut, and she’s selling the Mercedes fleet of her cabinet!
What is preventing any other leader in this world to take this selflessness approach to politics?
Anyway, today the air around me is filled with thrills and I want to slip into the numbness of refusing to think about the world…
